Pakalveedu

"Pakalveedu," initiated by the Sree Narayana Vanitha Samithy in October 2008, offers compassionate care, support, and companionship to women aged 50 and above, all while allowing them to remain within the comfort and security of their own homes during the day.

At Pakalveedu, these women have the opportunity to socialize with peers in their age group, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community. The day begins with a prayer, followed by a range of activities aimed at promoting mental alertness, physical well-being, and social engagement. These activities include yoga sessions, simple games, discussions, regular medical check-ups by Samithy doctors, informative medical talks, and opportunities to showcase cultural talents through performances. Additionally, Pakalveedu organizes picnics and outings to provide enriching experiences beyond the facility's walls. Nutritious lunch and refreshments are provided, and transportation to and from Pakalveedu is arranged by the Samithy, ensuring the women's safety and convenience. Located at Sree Narayana Bhavanam in Kadappakkada, Kollam, Pakalveedu embodies the Samithy's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for elderly women while preserving their dignity and autonomy within their familial environment.

SNISH-Sree Narayana Institute of Speech and Hearing

SNISH (Sree Narayana Institute of Speech and Hearing) is a beacon of hope and support for differently-abled children, operating under the compassionate umbrella of Sree Narayana Vanitha Samithy

Established in 2010, SNISH is dedicated to providing specialized education and care to children with disabilities. The school boasts a team of trained educators with expertise in special education and registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Additionally, SNISH is equipped with a licensed clinical psychologist who offers invaluable behavioral therapy, helping students navigate their unique challenges and thrive. Importantly, SNISH is committed to inclusivity and social equity, offering free therapy to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Moreover, recognizing the critical role of mothers in the holistic development of their children, SNISH extends empowerment opportunities to them through complimentary training in tailoring, embroidery, and crafting paper and fabric carry-bags. These initiatives not only uplift families but also foster a sense of community and self-sufficiency. Situated within the welcoming confines of Sree Narayana Bhavanam, SNISH embodies the ethos of compassion, inclusion, and empowerment championed by the Sree Narayana Vanitha Samithy, thereby enriching the lives of differently-abled children and their families.

I am immensely grateful to SNISH for the transformative impact it has had on my child's life and our family as a whole. SNISH has become a community that uplifts and supports us, providing invaluable resources and encouragement as we pursue our dreams. Because of SNISH, I can proudly say that my child is attending normal school, receiving the care and support they deserve, and I am filled with hope for their future. Thank you, SNISH, for making the impossible possible.

Rekha

"In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln My mother, two decades after retiring as Professor, Fatima Mata National College, decided to join "Pakalveedu" at the instance of some of her former colleagues as she walked into the twilight. Though reluctant at first on how she would fit in, she thoroughly enjoyed everything about "Pakalveedu"...the convenient timings and conveyance, the games specially designed for light exercise and enhancing memory, activities for entertainment while building camaraderie.... and last but not the least, the tasty food prepared with an eye on nutrition for the senior citizens! Wishing that "Pakalveedu" adds life and colour to many more like my mother, helping them traverse a phase in life that is universally looked upon with anxiety and apprehension.
